![Title:The Deep End of the Ocean [If I Could Be Where You Are] Description:This is from Ben's brother Vincent's pov and their motehr's(because in this movie the father's emotions about the loss have been almost completely ignored.)<br /><br />I hope someone would remake this movie into a filming that would do justice to the book's depth to the story. This movie is so, so sad, sorrowful but scratches marely the surface of the atmosphare of the book, which is painful beyond words to describe. I've been crying at some points of thsi movie ever since I read the book, but before the read, I didn't find this so emotional... except always that point where Beth starts to panic-cry after looking at his picture for the first time after his disappearance. Though you couldn't imagine the emotions of a mother in such a situation in any case but in this case the fact this boy was the sweetest and nicest child parents could ever hope for and he could have been at that moment dead or tortured.<br /><br />One moment from the book I absolutely would have loved to see in this movie:<br />- The flashback of Beth's in the moment she realized Ben has been kidnapped, where she recalls a day on the beach where Ben, who was terribly afraid of water, had explained about the deep end of the ocean and how he doesn't want to go there because there are sharks. Yet that you could go there and just walk in the bottom but then if you wanted to turn around and go back you couldn't because the water washes away all the footprints and you just can't find the way... Personally, I think that is maybe a bit too smart thinking from a less than 3 year old child but still, including that would've already given so much more depth to this movie, and explained the methaphora of the title -- especially when the mother had told teh child that she would never let the ocean take him.
