Tough Tootsies of the Eighties No. 14

PLEASE READ THIS - This is the second of two clips from the very popular film, "Barbarian Queen", from 1985. The film was another one of the Roger-Corman-produced, made-in-Argentina, sword and sorcery fantasies distributed by Concorde Pictures, or one of it's subsiduaries like Concorde-New Horizons. "Amazons", featured in Tough Tootsies of the Eighties Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 6, is from the same stable, and "Deathstalker III".

The film was directed by Héctor Olivera. The actress who played Amathea, the buxom, arse-kicking, sword-wielding blonde amazon, was Lana Clarkson, another of my favourite Tough Tootsies. Ms Clarkson, a keen horse rider and natural athlete, first appeared in "Deathstalker" (1983). She appeared again in "Barbarian Queen II: The Empress Strikes Back" (1989), and played Amathea again in "Wizards of the Lost Kingdom II" (1989). She appeared in over thirty films, numerous television series like "Three's Company", "Knight Ridr", and "The A-Team", and many TV commercials, developing a large fan base. Her life was tragically cut short when she died from a gunshot wound to the mouth in February 2003. Famous record producer, Phil Spector, has been charged with her murder but the case has still not reached a final verdict.

The other stars of the film were Katt Shea as Estrild; Dawn Dunlap as Taramis; Susana Traverso as Tiniara; Victor Bo as Strymon; and Frank Zagarino as Argan.

I am always looking for new ideas for this series. If you have any suggestions please don't hesitate to drop me a line.
